Wrapping up this year's prompts! This isn't entirely the last of them, but I think after this one, I'm done with the ones that sparked story ideas, so I'll be declaring prompt amnesty and starting over fresh in the new year.

The prompt, which is somewhat spoilery for the fic

[from an anon] Biggles prompt- on a case they run into/are made to work with someone who was nasty to Biggles in his school-days, who tries to renew such treatment, and EvS, also involved with whatever they're investigating, finds himself possessed of both an unexpected protective urge and in the rare position to offer his own "you're better than the people you're working for" speech

I was so excited to get a remix of one of my own fic! This is from Bucky's POV - they still get hit with sex pollen and have sex, and then they have a bunch of awkward debriefs after, and then they actually communicate and get together by the end! But it was so fun to see the little twists Scintilla added in and soak in Bucky's pining and suffering for a bit. Also the slight D/s of it all!!

A logic puzzle!!!!! This is one of the reasons I love fic in a box, because you can get such unique mediums. This is my first logic puzzle gift, and the clues are packed with fun details that bring a whole story to life :D I'm still stuck on one part but I'm determined to figure it out.

Hockey season. I do watch actual hockey as one of the only sports I don't find unforgivably boring but this month has also been hockey media.

Half my tumblr dashboard became obsessed with the new gay hockey show Heated Rivalry so I was like 'okay, I will try it' and yeah, it gave me feelings. I am, however, like the 1% of fandom that cares way more about Scott and Kip than Shane and Ilya. I've watched episodes 3 and 5 multiple times. After episode 3 I also decided I was going to read the Scott/Kip book so:

Game Changers by Rachel Reid. This reads like what I imagine hockey RPF fic to be like. Book Kip is annoying to me but I love show Kip. Overall I think the show hugely elevated the source material.

I will now begin my annual Christmas to New Year's vegetating phase :)

Ho ho ho

+ I was going to do my yearly 5 icon slots as a gift to myself, and it turns out 550 is a hard limit and I can't have any more. No fair. I got DW money some other way but boo.

+ Fallout is apparently back! I watched both episodes yesterday and enjoyed them. We're getting more zany vault culture and I'm here for it. Also a delightful actor appearance, big plus there.

+ Absolutely fell behind on

rec_cember. My brain has been Tired from being social every day. I do have a few more planned, fingers crossed they actually happen?

+ Christmas Eve was an absolute success. The food was lovely, everyone was healthy and in good spirits, and since there were no kids we took our time and opened one package at a time. I finally have a working vacuum again \o/ A foldable foot bath, and a ginger preserve I'm quite excited to try out. Some creams, u retweet, tea, and a gift card for RITUALS. All useful things.

+ Joined my brother in picking up my dad from the airport earlier. Now to figure out what will happen for my birthday, then my friend's birthday the day after, and THEN New Year's. I'd like a nap tbh.

- Them having the occasional big fight/argument. It's just not that realistic for a couple to be perfectly lovey dovey all the time.

Rec-Cember 2025 Day 25: Super Mario [50]

I've been reading Mario fanfic practically since I realized fanfiction was a thing. I was always sour that they made Mario talk in them XD But! The burst of popularity/fandom activity right after the 2023 Mario Movie was quite nice! Here's hoping the 2026 movie will have a similar effect.

Rec-Cember 2025 Day 24: The Murderbot Diaries [34]

I got into this book series in March and I've had a blast. I finally started System Collapse, too, and I’m hoping to finish it before the end of the year! I would have started it earlier, but it's just that Network Effect wrecked my entire life and I’d needed a break, lol.

A lot of this rec list is built on the backs of other reclists I've found. Which is the joy of rec lists, I suppose!

What if there’s no ethical way to have unlimited access to every book, film, and record ever created? And moreover, what if that’s not something we should want?

What if we simply decided to consume less media, allowing us to have a deeper appreciation for the art we choose to spend our time with? What if, instead of having an on-demand consumer mindset that requires us to systematically strip art of all its human context, we developed better relationships with creators and built new structures to support them? Tapes and other physical media aren’t a magic miracle cure for late-stage capitalism. But they can help us slow down and remember what makes us human. Fannish 50 2025 #44

Another piece of media I would like to see more of is Mega Man X. One of my longtime fandoms, there is just. So much. Lost potential here. So, what do I want? Let me see...

First off- more entries in the Maverick Hunter X series of remakes. I want this because of the greater character development we saw in the only MHX game we got. Another thing to consider is the opportunity to bring in X4's story elements organically in game, or maybe just make another OVA detailing Colonel and Iris being built?

Second- a Mega Man X9. I want to see what happened to Axl, dammit! Even if he is most likely a dead Reploid walking...

Third- an RPG entry that uses the RPG genre to the fullest. Command Mission failed in that regard- it's just a straightforward adventure, and feels like a really shallow use of an RPG.
